The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Arthur Mayo can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: Dear Martha and Family,

It is with great sadness that I received the news of Art's passing. We shared so many memories - Sunday night suppers at my parents' home, celebrations at Pushaw, wonderful talks. My heart and prayers are with you all.

Condolence: Art was a mentor, a teacher and most of all a friend to me, especially in my first few years, but throughout my career in Bath he continued to be a positive influence on me. Even during his time in the Senate he would keep me informed about legislation that might effect me and others involved in cemetery management. He was always willing to share his knowledge and wisdom.
My deepest condolences to Martha, Mari and all the family and friends that will remember Art with a lasting imprint.

Condolence: Dear Martha and family,
Sorry to learn of the death of Arthur. I used to see him regularly when he was associated with the Alumni Association UMO. He was always an inspiration and, in our younger years, he shared his commitment to funeral service and serving others. I was so very pleased when he married into such a wonderful family as I hope you know I have the greatest respect for your parents. Arthur and your dad, Frank, must have got along very well as they are both committed to serving others. Please know that I truly appreciated and admired Arthur as a fellow Funeral Director and a servant to so many.
Most Sincerely,
Gary Smith

Condolence: Martha, Mari and Art's other family members:

My sincere condolences for the passing of the Honorable Arthur Mayo III. Art was a tremendous legislator who was a great representative for Bath anhd Sagadahoc County. He also provided an incredible range of services to students, families, citizens, communities, and public and private sector organizations across the State of Maine. I am extremely grateful to have worked with Art and gotten to know him as a great citizen in Bath. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I am sure you will always remember what a wonderful person Art was and will forever be proud of him.

Best regards,

Phil McCarthy

Condolence: I served with Art for years on the board of the Children's Schoolhouse. He always exhibited such a generous spirit. His concern for others always came before himself, and his first desire was always to see how he could help. It is sad to see him go, but I am glad he had a chance to say goodbye. Much love from our family to yours, Martha.

Condolence: So sorry to hear of Arts passing. I first met Art through the Maine Funeral Directors Assoc. and he was a true colleague and mentor to myself and many others in the Association. We could always count on his guidance and well thought out wisdom, no matter the issue. He will surely be missed.

Condolence: Dear Mayo family,
I remember working with Arthur as a member of the Bath Municipal Band. Jimmy Footer, Arthur, and myself had numerous discussions over the years. He, of course, was also an avid supporter of the band. He will be missed.
Sincerely,
